Companion Policy

The patient has the right to have a companion to assist the patient during treatment, to the extent permitted by the legislation and the facilities of our hospital and as required by the patient’s health condition, subject to the approval of the doctor in charge of the treatment. How and when to exercise this right must be carried out in accordance with the procedures and principles determined in our hospital. We would like to emphasize that you should help us in this regard for the health of your patient and accompany your patient in accordance with the procedures and principles determined within the framework of our hospital’s accompanying policy.

  • The number of companions is limited to one person.
  • The companion must not be with the patient during rounds and medical care.
  • He/she must not perform any procedure for the patient except for the physician’s and nurse’s directives.
  • The companion assists in the care of the patient to the extent permitted.
  • He/she must not take the patient out of the hospital or change the patient’s bed except upon the order of the attending physician or nurse.
  • In order to provide you with a peaceful environment, it is important that the companions do not talk loudly or make noise in the patient rooms and ward corridors, use the televisions in the rooms in a way that does not disturb others, and turn off their phones or adjust the volume to a low tone during doctor’s rounds and after 21.00.
  • The use of tobacco and alcohol in the hospital is prohibited by law and hospital rules.
  • Companions should not bring food and beverages from outside the hospital, and no food that is not controlled by a dietician should be given to the patient.
  • A yellow wristband is also worn for the companion during patient admission.
  • When changing the companion, the nurse must be informed.
  • The accompanying person is obliged to comply with general hospital rules. In case of violation, your accompaniment to your patient will not be accepted.
  • Apart from all these, as a companion, when there is any problem in terms of the patient’s health, they must first inform the ward nurses.
  • They should not make any intervention without the knowledge of the ward nurses.
  • In patient rooms with female patients, it is obligatory for male companions to pay attention to the privacy of our patients.
  • Companions are not allowed in intensive care units.
  • Accompanying persons must keep hospital belongings tidy and clean. The companion who damages hospital property is obliged to cover the damage.
  • Accompanying persons can use the accompanying chairs in the patient rooms for resting.
